Read a board's estimated cost
Ticket Automation runs on your company’s OpenAI key, so its cost is on your OpenAI bill. The Boards page estimates it for each board before you switch anything on. You need the Admin access level to see it.
Where it shows
Section titled “Where it shows”- The expanded board: Estimated monthly OpenAI cost, with a line for each ticked automation and the board’s total.
- Each board’s row: “est. $13/mo”, for every board with something ticked, on or off.
- The page header: “est. $13 a month on OpenAI”, the total of the boards that are switched on.

What it is based on
Section titled “What it is based on”A board’s estimate is the number of tickets entered on it in the last 30 days, multiplied by the estimated cost per ticket of each automation ticked on it. Each automation’s cost per ticket comes from the price of the OpenAI model it uses and the typical tokens one ticket takes, including any second call it makes.
- The ticket count may be up to six hours old.
- Ticking or unticking an automation updates the board, its row and the header at once.
- A board that is off is costed too, so you can see what it would cost before switching it on. A board with nothing ticked costs nothing.
- It is an estimate, in US dollars: to the cent below $10, to the dollar from $10, and “under $0.01” for less than a cent.
With Support Advisor ticked, the board adds Support Advisor’s own lines: its indexing, “Technician asks”, and “Automatic reads” and “Customer reply reads” when it reads tickets by itself. See Turn Support Advisor on for a board.
After 30 days unchanged
Section titled “After 30 days unchanged”A board that has been switched on with its automations unchanged for 30 days or more shows Estimated OpenAI cost, past 30 days instead: the cost of the tickets actually automated on it in that time, and how many there were. Tickets that were not automated, because they were stale or the key was not working, are not counted. Ticking another automation returns it to the monthly projection.
When there is no total
Section titled “When there is no total”If the number of tickets on the board cannot be read from ConnectWise, the board says so and lists each ticked automation’s estimated cost per ticket, with no total; rows and the header show no figure. If the estimate cannot be loaded at all, the board says “The OpenAI cost estimate could not be loaded. It is read again when you re-read the boards.” Either way, every control on the page still works.
What you actually spend
Section titled “What you actually spend”The estimate is a guide. What your key actually spent is on your OpenAI account’s usage page, and the OpenAI Key page’s Usage in the last 30 days counts every call Nilear made for your company, by feature. A monthly budget with email alerts on your OpenAI project warns you before spending surprises you (Add your OpenAI key).
If Nilear provides OpenAI access for your company, the board says “Nilear’s key currently covers this cost.”
