Find clients near a place

A distance condition keeps the clients that have a site within a number of miles of a centre: a postal code, or one of your clients’ sites.

Describe it, for example “all Managed clients within 20 miles of 19438”, or add Distance from a postal code in the Criteria card:

  • Has a site within: 1 to 250 whole miles;
  • of postal code: the postal code;
  • in country: its two-letter country code, US when left as it is.

Distances are measured in a straight line from the centre of the postal code.

From an on-site visit or ticket on the map, choose Find clients near to measure from that client’s site. See See on-site visits. Saved as a new map, the condition reads “has a site within 10 miles of company (site)”.

  • A distance can only narrow a map. It must sit under all of groups only, never inside any of or none of; the editor warns you if it does.
  • The other conditions first choose the candidate sites; the distance is then measured for each. Up to 5,000 candidate sites can be measured. With more, add a state, territory, company type or another condition first.
  • A postal code that does not exist is refused when you save.

An opened distance map draws a circle of the distance around its centre, labelled with the postal code or the client’s site. The sites are listed Nearest first, each with its distance to a tenth of a mile.

The first time a map is opened, sites not located before are located then: the summary shows “n of total measured”, and pins and counts fill in as they are. Sites whose address cannot be found are listed under sites could not be measured. See Locating sites.
