Describe a map
You can describe the clients you want in your own words. Client Mapper turns the sentence into criteria, reads them back to you and counts what they match. It never saves anything until you click Save map.
Describe a new map
Section titled “Describe a new map”- On the Maps page, click New map.
- In Describe the map, type the clients you want, in up to 1,000 characters. Name things as they are named in ConnectWise: your company types, statuses, territories, markets, marketing groups, agreement types, contact types and custom fields.
- Click Find these clients. While it works, the button says Working it out….
- Read What Client Mapper understood, and the number of companies and sites. The Criteria card shows the criteria to change by hand if needed. See Build a map by hand.
Examples that work:
- “Managed or Break/Fix clients in the 2027 marketing group with an active agreement and at least one VIP contact”
- “all clients within 20 miles of 19438”
- “Customers in New Jersey or Delaware, but not in the Do Not Visit group”
When Client Mapper asks a question
Section titled “When Client Mapper asks a question”If a name in your sentence matches more than one of your values, or none, Client Mapper asks instead of guessing, with a button for each candidate. Click the one you meant.
It also asks, rather than guessing, when:
- you ask for a distance from a town, an address or a company: give the postal code to measure from;
- you ask for a distance as one of several alternatives (“in Texas or within 20 miles of 19438”): a distance can only narrow a map;
- you ask for marketing groups or agreements your ConnectWise does not let Nilear read, or contacts or agreements your own access does not let you see.
If the answer cannot be turned into valid criteria, you see That description could not be turned into criteria for your PSA. Please rephrase it, naming the types, groups or other values as they appear in your PSA.
Change a map in a sentence
Section titled “Change a map in a sentence”Once a map has criteria, the button reads Change the map: type a change such as “also leave out anyone in New Jersey” and Client Mapper changes the current criteria rather than starting again. On an opened map, the box at the top of the summary card (“Change this map”) does the same, and so does Describe a change in Refine.
A distance measured from a client’s site is kept as it is when you change a map in a sentence.
