Add Partner Center customers

If you are a Microsoft CSP partner, the Partner Center tab lists every customer tenant in your Partner Center and adds them to ConnectActive through your partner relationship, so you do not set up a Microsoft 365 connection in each customer’s tenant. A Microsoft Partner Center source syncs the tenant’s users, groups and licenses the same way a Microsoft 365 source does.

  1. Open ConnectActive and select the Partner Center tab.
  2. Under Partner Center Integration, enter your Partner Center domain and click Request Authorization.
  3. Sign in to Microsoft with an account of your CSP partner tenant that has the Admin agent role in Partner Center.

The tab shows Partner Center authorized for your tenant once Microsoft has finished, which can take a few minutes; the page updates by itself. ConnectActive keeps the authorization current. If it expires or is revoked, the tab says Your Partner Center authorization has expired or been revoked. Request authorization again, signed in as a user with the Admin agent role. If Microsoft signs you in as the previous account without asking, sign out of Microsoft first or use a private window.

The tab loads your customers from Partner Center; with many customers this can take up to a minute. Counts at the top split them:

Count Customers
In ConnectActive Synced by a ConnectActive company
Not in ConnectActive Not synced, and not set aside
Not linked Set aside with Don’t link
Needs attention Synced, but a company’s last sync failed, the company is inactive, or Partner Center access to the tenant failed

Select a count to list those customers. Search by company name, domain, tenant id, ConnectActive company or note; sort by name, domain or status; and Export the listed customers as a CSV file. Details on a customer shows its tenant id (with Copy), its relationship to you, and whether delegated admin access (DAP) is on. DAP is shown for information only and does not block adding the customer.

For each customer in ConnectActive, the ConnectActive column links to its company and the Last sync column shows its last sync, or Sync failed, Not synced yet, Inactive, Delegated access failed or Delegated access being obtained.

  1. Choose Add on a customer under Not in ConnectActive.
  2. Choose the ConnectWise company. The search starts with the customer’s name; you still pick the company yourself.
  3. Check the confirmation and click CONFIRM.

ConnectActive creates the company if it is not set up yet, adds a Microsoft Partner Center source, and obtains read access to the tenant through your partner relationship. The company’s first sync then runs like any other: review and commit it (Review and commit a sync).

If the company already syncs a different Microsoft tenant, the confirmation says so: choose ADD AS ADDITIONAL SOURCE to sync both, or DON’T LINK. A company never syncs the same tenant twice, through Partner Center and Microsoft 365.

On the company’s Settings, the Partner Center source shows the state of its delegated access. If it failed, click Retry authorization.

  • Don’t link moves a customer to Not linked. To set several aside at once, tick them and choose Don’t link selected.
  • Add note records why, in up to 500 characters (an internal test tenant, a customer who is leaving). Everyone who opens the tab sees it, and Edit note changes or clears it.
  • List again brings the customer back to Not in ConnectActive and removes its note.
