Availability and work states

The Availability board, in MTX’s Availability tab and in the Time Machine, shows each member’s state at a glance. MTX works it out from what the member is doing in MTX, so no one has to keep it up to date by hand.

  • Status: set by the member, or by someone allowed to change it: Lunch, Away From Keyboard, Personal Time Off, Gone for the Day, Other, and badges such as Do Not Disturb, In a Meeting, On the Phone and Out-of-Office. A status can have a return time; “gone for the day” returns at the member’s next working morning.
  • Work location: office, home, on the road, remote, or other with a name.
  • Active role: a short role such as “Dispatcher”, at most 30 characters, which targeting rules can use.
  • Their tickets: the ticket in progress with its time and budget, and tickets in PSR.

A member cannot set Lunch while a ticket is in progress; they finish or park the ticket first.

The board groups members in this order: Working, Waiting, Inactive, Missing, On-site / Travel, Away, Off and Other.

State When
Working A ticket is in progress.
Waiting The member finished a ticket within the last five minutes.
Inactive They finished a ticket within the last fifteen minutes.
Missing Longer than that, within working hours on a working day, after the day started. Shown as M.I.A. on their own row.
On-site / Travel The member is on site or travelling.
Away An unavailable status such as Lunch or AFK, lighter when it ends today.
Off Off, or on Personal Time Off.

Do Not Disturb, In a Meeting, On the Phone and Out-of-Office do not change the state by themselves. Outside working hours an idle member is shown neutrally, not as missing.

Non-ticket users, flagged on the Members page, are staff who do not work tickets. During working hours their status reads In instead of Waiting, Inactive, M.I.A., Available or Not In Yet, and outside working hours Off-Hours.

On boards that take part in budgeting, a ticket in progress shows when it is over budget. The budget is the schedule record’s length, else the ticket’s budget hours, else the company’s Default Budget (mins). A default of -1 turns budget notifications off.

Starting work, PSR, travelling and wrapping up update the board as soon as the change is queued, before ConnectWise has processed it. With the In/Out Board sync on in Settings, availability is also kept in step both ways with ConnectWise’s In/Out Board.

By default, everyone sees everyone. Your company can restrict this: see Set availability rights.
