Set up TravelSync

TravelSync adds a Travel To entry before each on-site appointment and a Travel From entry after it. For that it needs to know which appointments are on site, where they are, and where each technician sets out from.

1. Mark your on-site location in ConnectWise

Section titled “1. Mark your on-site location in ConnectWise”

TravelSync works only on schedule entries whose ConnectWise schedule location is marked as on-site. Check your schedule locations in ConnectWise’s setup tables, and make sure the one technicians choose for client visits is flagged as on-site. Entries at a remote or in-house location get no travel.

2. Have Travel To and Travel From schedule types

Section titled “2. Have Travel To and Travel From schedule types”

TravelSync writes travel entries with a schedule type whose name contains Travel To, and one containing Travel From (or Travel Return). If your ConnectWise has neither, Nilear adds Travel To and Travel From types when it verifies your account’s configuration. Without a travel type, TravelSync does nothing.

Travel is worked out from the ticket’s site address, or the company’s address when the ticket has no site. An address that cannot be found on a map gives a one-hour travel block instead of a real drive time. See How TravelSync plans travel.

4. Give each technician an office and a home

Section titled “4. Give each technician an office and a home”
  • Office: the address of the technician’s default schedule location in ConnectWise, or of their default location, or else your company’s address.
  • Home: the member’s home address in Nilear. Members set their own on their Profile; an Admin can set one for any member. A member marked as working from home sets out from home every day.

With only one of the two known, TravelSync always uses that one.

On the ScheduleSync settings page, click Turn TravelSync ON, and check each technician’s Travel Sync switch on the Members page.

Then schedule an on-site appointment for today or later: shortly afterwards, the technician’s Dispatch Portal shows the travel around it.
