Set configuration contacts
ConnectActive can set the Contact on a client’s ConnectWise configurations to the synced contact of the user who last logged in to each machine. It is off until you choose otherwise, per company.
Choose a mode
Section titled “Choose a mode”- Open the company’s Settings.
- Under Overwrite Options, choose Configuration Contacts:
- Do not change Configuration Contacts (the default).
- Set Configuration Contact from last login when empty or inactive: fills a configuration that has no contact, or whose contact is inactive in ConnectWise. A contact chosen by hand is kept, and a departed user’s machine passes to its new user once the old contact is deactivated.
- Always set Configuration Contact from last login: replaces any contact that differs from the last login.
The choice is saved at once and applies from the company’s next sync: at the end of each automatic sync, and shortly after a sync you commit by hand without errors. Opening or reviewing a company changes nothing.
| Current contact | When empty or inactive | Always |
|---|---|---|
| None | Set | Set |
| Inactive in ConnectWise | Set | Set |
| The same contact | Unchanged | Unchanged |
| Another active contact | Unchanged | Set |
Which configurations
Section titled “Which configurations”Only configurations of the company that are:
- of a type whose name contains Workstation, Desktop, Laptop or Computer;
- not Inactive, Retired or Automate Inactive;
- showing a last-login user.
The last-login user is matched to a synced user by user name (ignoring any DOMAIN\ prefix and letter case), then by
sign-in address, then by display name when only one synced user has it. A machine whose last login matches no synced
contact keeps its contact. ConnectActive never assigns a contact that is inactive in ConnectWise.
At most 50 configurations are updated per sync; the rest follow in later syncs.
ConnectWise permission
Section titled “ConnectWise permission”ConnectActive’s ConnectWise API member needs Companies and Contacts → Configurations → Edit set to All on its security role. If it is missing, the company’s settings say so under the selector, and the sync makes no configuration changes for that company. The mode is still saved, so it takes effect once the right is granted.
