Dynamic groups

Besides the groups a client’s directory holds, ConnectActive builds dynamic groups from what it knows about each user. They appear in the group lists wherever a group can be chosen: a group mapping, a merge, filtering, site mapping and Contact Mappings. Their members change with each sync.

Group Members
Licensed Users Users with a Microsoft 365 license
Primary email domain is @domain Users whose primary email address is in that domain, one group per domain found
Users with email domain @domain Users with that domain in their primary address or any alias, one group per domain found
Department - department Users with that department, one group per department found
Department - None Assigned Users with no department
Office - office Microsoft 365 users with that office location, one group per office found
Custom Field - field (and value) Users matched to an active contact whose ConnectWise custom field is ticked or holds that value

On the company’s Settings, the Custom Field Groups (Optional) card lists the account’s contact custom fields. Each field you tick becomes groups: a Checkbox field gives one group, Custom Field - field; a List field gives one group per value, Custom Field - field - value. A member is a user matched to an active contact whose field is ticked or holds that value; an empty or unticked field never makes a member. The groups change on the company’s next sync after a field is edited in ConnectWise. For example, a Difference merge with Custom Field - 365 Support Only leaves out every contact with that box ticked.
